Lex'EL D'Gracefull sat in the Dock Masters office and looked at the now irritated Dock Master who once again said “I don’t care if it was inspected prior to arriving here, it’s now in my little pond, and its marked Solarian Navy, So even if I had not planned to do more than a cursory look before, I will defiantly be using the white gloves on this one.
Then there is this Star-Fleet Ensign trying to throw his weight around to get head of the line privileges.”
The Dock Master stopped his speel to look at the imposing Lex’EL who was trying to just sit calmly and lose what little of patience that he had left. “You are a big one” the smaller dock worker said.
Lex’EL calmly said “I am not requesting special privileges, I am just informing you, so you don’t have to jump through hoops to transfer it to someone the next cargo vessel that will be having to supply the USS Mark Miller on its next resupply run. And look at it this way do you really want two pallets of perishable food stuff sitting in your way here in your warehouse, where your responsible for replacement if something happens to it.”
The Dock Master interrupted Lex’EL and said: “I have been a dock worker for 20 years and people try to pull the wool over my eyes all the time, and you don’t look old enough to shave, much less con me…”
Lex’EL said “Most Solarian’s in Starfleet tend to have a large quantity of Solarian Navy ration packs on hand to use as vitamin supplements due to their bodies need for exotic and heavy minerals/ vitamins. But you’re welcome to try one…” Lex’EL reached into his backpack and pulled out a Solarian food pack. And tossed it on the Dock Masters desk “I would not recommend more than a bite of anything except the fruit cake/cookie…. Those are quite good and won’t cause you to toss your cookies so to speak, keep in mind these food packs are not Starfleet Emergency rations and are quite good if I do say so myself. And I don’t care what you do to the pallets as long as the 2 containers make it to the USS Mark Miller prior to its departure in 3 and a half hours. If that does not happen I’ll put in a priority dispatch for required special dietary foods and lay the blame on you… then not only will you have to send out a currier ship to bring me my lunch, but you will also get noticed by all kinds of people in Starfleet, and probably your boss to…” Lex’EL waved his hands in frustration… gave up and said “Ok, I have enough food packs in my back to last 14 days, so you can just ship them to me regularly if you so desire, as long as you don’t take longer than 14 days.” Lex’EL got up, grabbed his two bags, and turned to walk out of the room. As he shut the door he could see the Dockmaster eyeing the Solarian Navy Food Pack and deciding if he wanted to risk food poisoning or not.
Lex’EL just calmly shut the door and headed to Berth 3a where the USS Mark Miller was getting ready to leave. Lex’EL could see the string of supplies and equipment/provisions that were in the process of being loaded prior to departure. The ship did look awfully small, it must be the distance thing… he turned to look over his should to the other dock to see the USS Discovery, and it looked huge. Lex’EL turned back to keep walking towards berth 3a. The ship was not getting any bigger as he got closer. “Oh well, I just hope the natives are friendly!” Lex’EL muttered as he approached the docking tube.
