| Personal History | Born to Sven and Maria Jurgen, Astrid grew up on board a long haul freight transport, the Cronvanger, spending most of her young life using the large vessel as an adventure playground. Her father insisted she understood how the ships systems functioned, as more often than not the ageing vessel was undergoing running repairs, the crew often joking that very little of the original vessel remained anymore. This meant her normal schooling was often substituted with educational trips into the depths of the Cronvanger to deal with one problem or another. Despite her father’s hopes that she would be interested in taking over the business when she was old enough, Astrid found that she had very little desire to stay aboard the ageing Freighter - instead applying to Starfleet when she got the chance. |

| Service Record | Her time at the academy was notable for two reasons. The first was that she was several years older than the other cadets in her classes - the Cronvanger’s schedule meaning her enrolment was delayed. The second was that she seemed to have an aptitude for getting involved in fights. A combination of her taking things said to her very literally (a hangover from life aboard the freighter) and her clearly nordic looks resulted in a great many misunderstandings in the first few years of academy life, almost resulting in her expulsion on one occasion. However, despite all this she graduated and was initially posted to Space Dock; even after her repeated requests to be posted aboard a starship. After a few years serving on the large space station, she was then stationed on the USS Culross. There she honed her skills, and after several promotions, she was finally offered the role of Chief Engineer on a Nova class vessel, the USS Mark Miller. |
