Location: Captain's Quarters
Timeline: After the Shakedown

[Enroute to DS13]
[Captain's Quarters]

"Captain's Log, supplemental."  Abby leaned back in her chair and took a deep breath.  She rubbed her face and gazed out of the transparent aluminum window at the starfield and passing particle trails that indicated a ship at warp.  She stood and took her small glass of whisky in a hand, sipping it gently as she recited her log.

"Finally, we are back on course to Deep Space 13.  The shakedown mission didn't quite go as planned.  The tribble-matic invasion very nearly destroyed the ship.  Thankfully, due to the diligence and professionalism of the crew, we persevered."

She paused and sipped her whisky again.  "The tribble-matics were disabled by Lieutenant Jurgen and Ensign Sh'rhovek, which facilitated the cleanup.  However, extensive damage had already been done to the ship.  We lost helm control in the midst of a planetary collision.  Luckily, Lieutenant Dantarno was able to utilize the waverunner to protect the ship while we affected repairs.  The impulse and warp drive systems have been patched now, though they will require a full work-over once we reach dock."

Abby wandered her room, her gaze lingering on a variety of personal effects.  Eventually, she sat back at the console to finish the log.  "As for the mission itself… I'm confident we ran the ship to her absolute limits, and she performed well.  We received an incredible amount of data on the planetary collision, which I'm sure Federation scientists will publish papers for years on.  I kind of wish I had the time myself."

A pause, "Computer, delete the last sentence."

The computer acknowledged the edit with a beep.

"End log and file," Abby closed the display and stood.  Her whisky gone, she deposited the empty glass into the recycler on her way to the bedroom.  They would arrive at DS13 in the morning, and in the meantime she was going to get some rest.
